Snow Birds
Boy how the weather can change within a few days. My son Carson wasn’t able to come on either of our recent Idaho turkey hunts and this time he would be the only one available for this particular hunt.
Who knew there'd be 4 in. snow before dark Fully clothed sleeping in cab of truck tonight
Carson arrived a few hours before dark and headed into the field. Within minutes it began to snow. And snow it did, by the time it was dark he had 4 inches of snow on the ground. Over night added another inch which made for a situation that he hadn’t expected.
Blind hidden within the snowy trees Single jake decoy sitting out front
It was morning and time to brave the snow. The moon was still in play, similar to the previous hunts days ago, which made for an easy trek especially as it reflected off the freshly fallen snow. With just one hour before sunrise Carson was off to a predetermined location. Once there he burrowed into the snow covered trees and waited for daylight.
Turkeys down not too far from blind Awesome shot of the skyline and turkeys
Turkeys were vocal early, but were slow to cooperate. However, it didn’t take too long before Carson had two big snow birds down!
